I think it's just a part of growing up and getting older. I will say that even though I share most of the same thoughts, every once in a while some cool things happen that make you realize why they are great reality TV. Plus, with college football, a lot of the experience is about sharing the day with friends or family and not just the game.

Maybe. But I have friends and coworkers much older than me and they are diehards. A lot of those dudes salivating over signing day are middle aged or older.

Lost complete interest. Sports related.
I used to be a diehard lover of all sports. Bled purple and gold. Lived and died by the Tigers. NFL every Sunday. NBA. MLB. All of it. Even watched golf tourneys.

But over the last few years I have not only lost all interest in sports but now actively think they are by and large dumb and pointless above the high school level. And even at the high school level I think they are only good for building character and important for a person to learn team work.

Why would a healthy male go from living sports, living and dying by them, to thinking they were dumb?

I await your diagnosis.

Most normal people probably take sports less seriously as they grow older. It's called maturing and having other things to do. I am down to college football and I like to go to baseball games.

I don't know how anyone can maintain interest in NBA. It's almost year round and the regular season only weeds out like 10 teams from the playoffs.

I've never been interested in them. I had fun playing them as a kid but beyond that nothing. When we lived in OKC I had a good time going to Blazers (hockey) games, but didn't follow them per se.

Been on the same train, just burnt out tired of caring what millionaire idiots think. It's very unimportant beyond high school, just a means to an end for many.

I prefer using men instead of male BTW , but I pretty much feel the same way as you. Pro sports have all been watered down since the days of my youth(especially the NFL) so that they are barely recognizable to what they once were. You can find entertainment through the stupid things people do and say much more readily through social media in the modern world. I get more out of how I play in pick up games against people 15 years younger than me versus putting $$$ in someone else's wallet to watch them. Still love LSU college football though.

If it wasnt for gambling and fantasy, I'd have no interest in sports.

Sports is really an outlet for males to express their emotions while not worry about losing their manhood to people around them. Look that old guys wearing jerseys of players. Who goes around wearing another man's name with pride? He's really saying to the world "this guy is a man i want to be but can't". What real man with any dignity would do that?

And of course the "we" I keep hearing when guys refer to a team. You're not part of the team. If money flows in one direction, there's no "we". You're just trying to satisfy your tribalistic instinct as humans. You need to belong to a group/tribe. All humans have this instinct.

To the OP, congrats and good luck in new areas in life to make you happy.

You matured, and you found other interests.

Or maybe you're anhedonic or depressed.

Rummel Tiger is one of the ones with a hard on for the young males. He's one of the ones there's something wrong with like you were saying Kasey.

Awaiting his kind and the likes of stout, the 7-11 manager, resorting to some childlike taunt as per their usual mode of operations
