I just got granite counter tops and a new sink, and I'm looking for a plumber to install the garbage disposal and faucet. I would normally do this on my own by I just recently had surgery on my finger.

Any suggestions for a good/cheap plumber?

I presume this followed your first attempt to install the garbage disposal on your own? That's so Beta/OTPoor/baw/SJW/PIIHB/BRCIOOC

Are you married?

I installed ours years ago, and I can barely change a light bulb. It really wasn't that difficult.

Google the local HBA..and find a good licensed plumber. Expect to pay between 85-120 per hour plus materials.

Hire a professional have it done right.

If you have new granite, then you probably are doing a new faucet and sink , new disposal, new strainers, new traps, new water supply line connectors, hook up dishwasher and test all of it for leaks.

Many kitchen sinks are vented with a Studor vent. You may need that as well.

Anything involving water, I advise turning it over to a professional who has insurance.

Brian Leger - Custom Plumbing. He did my setup for me outside. Does great work.

Another recommendation is Carl from Ronnie Marino Plumbing.

Thanks for the suggestions, but in the end I just installed it myself just took a little longer than normal.

Do not install a garbage disposal. You will never find a plumber who owns one, but happy to waste your money installing one for you.

Edit: I see you wasted time and money anyway.

I just ran new pipes. I went from a divided sink with two drains to one big sink with one drain in the middle.

What??

Why waste money? they work great and when they "break" all you have to do is stick a 3/8" allen wrench in the bottom and spin it free then press the reset button.

The only way I wouldn't have one is if I had a septic tank.

I've been a builder for 25 years...seen and experienced many unfortunate situations.

All of that is correct, but this isn't true at all:

Here in NC they are.

If your sink is in the Island, there is no other way to vent the sink.
