I usually take two mental health days a year. My sick time is capped because I have so much banked so figure I may as well use a little of it.

Wish we would just move to PTO.

That's great and all that some of you go to work sick. do you really think everyone else wants you to go to work sick?

outside of food poisoning, I would go to work sick, but I feel like a jackass going in and getting others sick.
Fortunately I work out of the home now, and when i'm sick, I just don't go visit customers b/c i'm not a jackass. If it's an important meeting, i'll call the customer and let them know i'm sick but it doesn't bother me, but if they'd rather reschedule we can, and almost 100% of the time they say reschedule.

I've called in for Anal Glaucoma on those days when I just couldn't see my arse going into the office.

Used to work with a chick that bragged that she once passed a kidney stone on her lunch break and went back to work.
Know what happened when she quit? Business as usual.

If we call out for longer than 3 days we have to provide documentation (doctor's note, etc) saying we sought medical treatment.

Due to where I work and all the nasty germs I'm exposed to.....I usually am calling in sick (cause I'm actually sick)once every 3 months it seems.

I've called in and wasn't sick....but usually limit that to just a single shift. Last time I did that it was cause I just had a lot going on with school and was feeling burnt out at work. So I guess that qualifies as a mental health day?

I've called in once to go fishing. Otherwise I can truly say it's been legit. Longest was 4 days because of a kidney stone.

Oddly enough, I tend to get deathly ill during the first round of the NCAA basketball tournament every year. Must be the "allergies."

Three days requires a doc's excuse, so for me: 2.

You must not have a job that provides you with sick leave to use. Or you are the person that insisted on working with the flu and got the rest of the office sick because of it.

Never if I'm not really sick. That is a chick move for when they need a "mental health day" because you know work is hard.

I missed a week once but I had influenza and strep throat at the same time.

I go to work sick, figure if I'm already miserable may as well be at work. Use my sick days to create long weekends during hunting season, so just one day.
