Reminds me of a poor man's Varsity or Fred's. Except, all of the trash comes out of the woodworks instead of hot sorority girls.

I somehow find myself there about once every 6 months. Just long enough to remind me why I don't go often.

Every time I've been it's been the crowd that follows the type of music that's playing...from one extreme to the other...zoso should be fun

I'm not sure there is a "desirable crowd" in Monroe

I'm not familiar with Zoso, so I can't really comment on what kind of crowd they would bring.

Yea it's a fine venue. I've only been once since it's been "Live Oaks" but have been a shitload of times to the venue under its previous names. Don't listen the musings of an old bitter displaced yat. Go and have fun.

Live oaks is a pretty cool place. Not sure what the one poster was talking about not trashy at all. Sometimes it's almost too much of the art/music crowd so pretty much never your white trash/ghetto crowd. Huge bottle beer options. Most nights a pretty even mix of frat and sorority kids, art crowd and late 20's early 30's professionals who still go out. I've been a least a couple dozen times. Now nights with live music obviously bring different types depending on the band.

Displaced is correct. But old and yat are about as far from the truth as possible.

It's just never held any appeal for me, nor for most of the people I associate with.

It's only fun when you go with big groups, 10 plus

Bar on Olive was one name. It's connected to what was once the Baitshack, Hooking Bull and various other names.

The "one poster" never misses an opportunity to take a shot, at undoubtedly, the place he seems to be making a living at.

You got to love to pretentious " not sure their is a desirable crowd in monroe " comment. Monroe has the same subsets of people as any southern college town just in smaller proportions but plenty big to fill up a bar/music venue.

It doesn't have much of an appeal to me or my crowd either as we are closer to 40 than 20 and have kids and such. But the college aged people seem to dig it and I think it would be a fine place to go and see a musical act I had interest in.

I don't really get the it's only fun to go with a big group either. It's always packed. They bring in good bands constantly. On a Friday or sat night their is often more woman than men which is a plus. It's not the most amazing place ever but its an above average bar by most metrics

There are some that need to realize that multiple roads go south, as well.
Some may need to call and check things out, before they get to such a "miserable" destination for them.
