Little old lady gets beatdown in Southwest Downtown Shreveport

Train photographer friend is down by the tracks in SW downtown Shreveport. Little old black lady is headed to get food at the Rescue Mission, has a little wheeled cart behind her. Two young black punks start throwing ballast rocks at her, slapping her, pushing her down, and then they start kicking her.
The guys beat her because she would not have sex with them.
Train photographer is an old guy but has a concealed carry permit. He calls 911 rather than intervene (and the cops got there quickly).
One of the guys took his shirt off, as if he was some badass for going two against one on some old lady.
This is why I have a dog when I go down there - my Aussie would have been drawn to the commotion and she would be the perfect "weapon" to deal with that issue.
He didn't confront them with a pistol because had he done so and they came at him, he wasn't going to shoot them because they were likely unarmed and the media would have pounced all over him.
The lady went to the hospital but will be alright.

He's the only witness.
I figure this will be on the KTBS crime beat tonight. I doubt the news picks it up - the poor in this area don't get a lot of media attention.

Then why carry? I can see not shooting at punks running away because that will get you in trouble. But if they're coming at you they're fair game.
