Damn, if those pirates had been in the water, they'd be dead.

ABC News did a report on these hired guns protecting the ships from being overtaken by pirates. Of course, ABC showed how the Somalis become pirates because of lack of other opportunities, and how the hired guns are killing these poor pirates indiscriminately. Basically what you'd expect from ABC.

Is that even debatable?

I think ABC referred to them as Somali sailors and the security team were mercenaries.

They were told to fire warning shots. After the first 30 seconds or so they were actually aiming to kill.

It's a glimpse into their mindset and how they view your second amendment rights. It goes something like this: "Why should you have the power to shoot a burglar when all he is doing is entering your home so he can feed his starving family. Let the police and insurance company handle it."

Ship owners put a dent in these assholes the last 5 years or so.

From the article, I don't know if the pirates are less 'impressed'. I think it's more to do that the ante has been upped. They have been approaching ships with trained guards with m4s firing down at them. While having a rain of bullets coming down, they're trying to board a moving ship from their shitty boats. Just the boarding of the ship is hard, let alone with 2 guys pelting you with bullets
