wanting to run a gas line to my house. older house that was built before the gas lines were put into the neighborhood. city would run the line from the main to the meter beside the house but i would need a plumber licensed with the city to get permits to add gas.
so two/three part question: who would you recommend for this in the area and other that treefiddy about how much am i looking at for adding this? im wanting to get tankless hot water heaters and possibly a generator in the future. also, could i get away with running a line to my grill?

I had this done at my house in Prairieville back about 2-3 months ago. The line ran thru my yard along the street.
I first got the plumber to run 3 gas lines in my attic/down between the walls for stove, dryer, and water heater. This pipe ran outside the house to be connected at a later date. Total cost for parts, labor, and permits ran me $1,850. Thought that was a little high but i got quotes as high as $2,700.
After he ran his lines, Atmos buried the line through my yard and connected with meter at the line previously run by plumber. They charged $500 for that as long as it was under 50 feet. Add'l $8/foot after 50.
My house was built in 1997 and i promised this to my wife when we bought the house a few years ago.

thanks for the info on pricing...gonzales city gas didnt mention a price or max footage they would run to my house. they just said they would do it. if you dont mind, who was the plumber you hired? i would have to check and see if he is licensed with the city of gonzales.

I hate to put his info on blast on the OT . Can you post your email for a second and I'll shoot you out an email? I'll let you know when I got it and you can delete it off.

Used central plumbing myself. Very professional.
Gas lines are very expensive. They only let the workers work up until noon in an attic with it warming up.
It cost $900 to run the line from an existing line already in the house at the water heater. Good luck. That shite is gonna run you at least a couple grand.

years ago, atmos paid you "x amount" back, based on the amount of appliances you were converting to NG.
great incentive to make you convert.
