I seriously doubt he's been raped in jail.
Probably separated from most inmates most of his stay and he's the kind of guy that sticks a shank up his arse just to rip the dick of a potential rapist.

They should have gotten the death penalty.
They did get sentenced to death. A year later the enlightened state of California abolished the death penalty and commuted their sentences to life (with chance for parole, as far as I know Cali does not have life w/out).
Now Cali could have been a bit forward looking with the chance for parole. Incarceration rates rising, prisons overcrowded... do we the taxpayers really wanna foot the bills for say 10,000 or more elderly, disabled, medically needy criminals in every state? Or would it be an extra kick in the arse to boot them out old, crippled, sick, with a felony record, and no social skills to fend for themselves?

He's Bisexual, spent most of his life in jails, including teen years. There's documentation showing he has had homosexual relationships while incarcerated going back to early 1950's. Wikipedia says he started getting molested in Juvie Hall at age 13 (of course Wikipedia may/not be accurate but there are other records out there too). Shows in 1951 he sodomized another guy in juvie while another held a razor to the kids throat.

What does Sharon Tate like like in her old age? what books does she get to read? What sights does she get to see?
That's right, no answer to the above, since this filth murdered her.
0.0 sympathy to Leslie van Bitch, even if she does look "harmless" now.

Her parole will be reviewed again next year and probably granted again I believe.

Even more proof that he probably wasn't raped in jail as an adult.
It's not rape if it's consensual

I'm sorry but that's one of the fricking stupidest things I've ever seen on this board. You really want to release thousands of people into cities which they would turn into 3rd world shitholes.
In Chicago, they shut down the mental institutions because the state is bankrupt and walking into work every day is a miserable experience.
I thought I saw a zombie at Walmart the other day because I saw a guy who was so messed up he was foaming at the mouth and couldn't open the door.
And you want to double or triple that?

Mental institutions are not prisons, but thanks for playing.
Now throw some of YOUR income into the state there to reopen the facilities if it bothers you so much. They will accept donations, just do not volunteer my money.

Well, considering there are no mental institutions, many of the insane have been sent to prison. Because when someone lives on the streets, they commit crimes.

Releasing the elderly prison population is already happening: Google Search Elderly prisoners Early Release
The first linked article is "Justice Department Calls for Release of More Elderly and Infirm Inmates". It's especially gaining traction under the For Profit Prison/Industrial Complex since elder care eats into profits.
So, call it a stupid idea again while you vote. Keep voting for the "Tough on Crime" lock 'em up and throw away the key candidates, keep voting for the Senators and Representatives passing the early elderly release bills.
Or, what's your plan? Call it stupid yet offer no alternative? Constructive plan there

They were all sentenced to Death but California got rid of the Death Penalty soon after.
At this point it should be clearly stated why Van Houten is still in prison: the notoriety of her crime forbids the possibility of parole under any circumstances.
I believe there are only two reasons why Van Houten should be incarcerated:
• She has been judged to be un-rehabilitated
• She has been judged to be a danger to society
Point Two has been dismissed all by but the individuals who seek her permanent incarceration. Her prison record, such as is known to the public, has been spotless for years and years.
Point One is confusingly articulated in the words of the official who denied her parole, California Governor Jerry Brown. In his decision, Brown stated that overwhelming evidence of Van Houten's suitability for parole was out weighed by “negative factors that demonstrate she remains unsuitable for parole.” The only negative factor Brown cites is a statement Van Houten made two years after the Tate–LaBianca murders–some 43 years ago.
Simply put, Van Houten's continued incarceration has nothing to do with being unsuitable for parole. It has everything to do with the politics of the case.
It's unfortunate that the officials assigned to determine the truth of this matter have been entirely untruthful in stating their reasons for denying Van Houten's parole--and, in their apparent arrogance, have assumed the public is incapable of seeing though their hollow pronouncements.
