But they're pretty shitty cars and very expensive to maintain.

Not since like 2003.

Ehhh, I almost got one and consulted several mechanics. It was pretty consensus across the board that it'll have a major issue eventually and be very expensive to fix. Might not be for 30,000 miles while under warranty, but it'll happen.

And the cost of regular maintenance is much higher than most vehicles.

For the record, I decided to get a fully loaded brand new Outback off the assembly line to my specifications that will last me 200,000 miles, is very luxurious on the interior, and was $40,000 cheaper

ETA:

7 month wait for that puppy though. I'm 15,000 miles in on it and it's fanfrickingtastic.

They are not very reliable as CR reports! I do not get this SUV for women. We have a Lexus LS460L which my wife drives most and a Toyota Sienna which I love. I can haul 10' PVC and many other items that would not fit even in a large SUV. I could careless since it is reliable and rides like a car not like a truck. Get over it we are not in 8th grade!

I vote yes. Im an suv guy myself, and i like the look.

Also, drive what you want. No one worth a damn is going to judge you based off what you drive anyway, within reason

Just go with the Ford Explorer Sport. Nice looking, not feminine, less money, more reliable than and land rover.

I've had literally one problem involving a non wear part with my Rover and it was covered under warranty.

Go for a Macan. They drive more like a sports car than an SUV and can hold their own on track with a good driver behind the wheel.

How many miles? And if you've put 50+ on there without having to pay serious money to fix something, you're in the minority.

Have you seen the new ones? I have high-end leather, wood grain, top notch technology (literally drives itself with cruise and lane steering), etc.

ETA:
My father has a Range Rover and its not much nicer than my car on the inside.

It's 2017. If you want to identify as a woman and drive those lame minivans they call Discoveries now, then go right ahead.

Over 60. It's my third and I've yet to have a major problem.

Coming from someone who's lived in CO, the Subaru is a far better purchase.

Land River of money is what you get with the Rover.

From Consumer Reports:

quote:

The Overall Score is the combination of our road tests, predicted reliability, owner satisfaction, and safety. For each brand we indicate the percentage of tested models that earned a recommended designation. This percentage reveals a meaningful differentiation. Only Porsche, BMW, and Mazda earned a recommendation on every model we tested. Audi, Honda, and Hyundai lead the other brands, with 86 percent of their tested lines being recommended.
