I'm all for getting the dope off our streets but these "law and order" type of propoganda videos do more harm than good. Those tactics ruined the black community during the crack epidemic. It makes me uncomfortable to see our PDs be this vengeful? Bragging about kicking doors in ? Sheesh

Reagans law and order tip was a collossal racist punitive failure, and I don't get why we're so eager to travel back in time to policies that don't work. All they do is demonize people (fiends, dealers and the PDs).

Our PDs are better then these videos. Covering your faces ? That's scary

Jeff Session's 5'3 self got a hard one from that video. Just the America he wants.

Get the smack off our streets but let's go about it effective, compassionate and productive ways.

Yeah, it was the evil police and had nothing to do with crack.

He's bluffing, their undercover officers haven't done jack shite and he's hoping people think they are actually doing something.

Just my guess

Suuuuuure, let's blame the cops instead of the drug dealing, violent pieces of shite polluting communities across this country. Way to go black community.

No it was the law enforcement-- crack carried longer sentences than cocaine powder.

It was Nixon and co admitting to targeting the black community during the crack boom

It's the countless number of black men locked for dumb petty crimes

To be fair, most LE and DA lobbies are a large reason why MJ is still illegal and why the WOD still exists- and it has far more to do with money than caring about "protecting the community".

No it's not.

I deal with addicts everyday. The white heroine junkie isn't blaming the 5-0. They usually blame their shitty parents.

Yea and you know who pushed for those harsher sentences in the 60s and 70s?

Black community leaders

They saw what crack and heroin were doing to their communities and thought that harsher sentencing would discourage it. Did it work? Probably not, but don't act like it was a bunch a white dudes scheming behind closed doors

There are volumes of research discussing how black community leaders wanted these same harsh sentences that they now want changed

(For the record I support portugal's drug laws; non criminal treatment for possession, incredibly harsh sentences for pushers)

Correct

It also hits faster because it's smoked as opposed to snorted or ingested

It can cross the blood brain barrier almost immediately

Right so that could be a reason it was penalized differently. Or it could be racism. I really don't know. But that has been changed and crack and cocaine are now treated the same.
