Hey guys, I've lurked on here for a LONG time and never posted, but I was hoping ya'll could help me out. My wife and I are looking at homes in Lafayette and wondering if anyone had any experience with Shiver's Brothers, Heritage Homes, or DSLD. I've read the DSLD and D.R. Horton stuff and it helped a lot. Really wondering about the other two though. Thanks.

Yeah, we wouldn't even look at a Horton house. We've heard from a lot of people that they're terrible.

Heritage is the best on that short list...followed by Shivers.

Heritage Homes
Ive seen several bill board advertisings about them around Laffy and they look legit.

But with home contractors, who the hell knows?

I know a couple of people that have used Shivers, always heard great things. D.R. Horton, on the other hand, seems like a nightmare to deal with.

Give DSLD a look. They may fit the cookie cutter description but they have many options available to customize the house.

Shivers, Heritage and Manuel built homes in my neighborhood. Mine was built by Shiver's and I have a few complaints and I have heard many more from our HOA meetings. There were some about Heritage too. I haven't heard many about Manuel Builders.

as someone who's in construction and a brother that does foundation/slab/post tension i would advise you to look at heritage from that list then shivers. don't touch the others.

The only experience I have is with DSLD since they built my fiance's house. They may be generic cookie cutter but that house is incredibly energy efficient. She has never had an electricity bill that was over $65.

Don't have a suggestion for you but will say good luck. 95% of the builders there do incredibly shoddy work even the ones that do high end houses. Did some construction and installs as well and was amazed by some of the shite that they would do and some how pass inspection.

dms4720.

louisiana foundation solutions.985-607-8013. reggie. he still has a n.o. number bc its his cell and all his customers know it as that but he's in lafayette. honestly i don't know how much they still do with home slabs/driveways anymore. they do a lot of commercial, just did the new audi location on johnston 800k sq ft.
