Apparently a family paid in full for Labor Day weekend... Well in the flood, this same family lost everything except the clothes on their backs. They called Kim Lang Rental properties to try and get a refund to free up as much money in their account as possible. They were informed that the family neglected to select the rental insurance option so they will not be refunded. The story spread like wildfire and their FB review rating went from 4.8 stars out of 5 to 1.2 stars in a matter of hours. Some of the reviews and comments are beast mode. Will update with link...

While it's a terrible situation they explain to you when you book that you can not cancel and be refunded "X" days out for any reason what-so-ever without the trip insurance which is something like 7% of the total cost.

Sure, it's probably the right thing to do for them to cut this family some slack but that it what the trip insurance is for.

so the company is having its ratings destroyed by people who never used them because a family who was in a flood didn't pay for insurance that they should have paid for just in case ANYTHING UNEXPECTED OCCURRED?

explain the part to me where it's any skin off their back to cut these people a break.

I have no problem with people exercising their right to free speech either.

Oh bullshite! Sometimes in this thing we call life, there are acts of good deeds that need to be done. That fcking rental company isn't losing a damn penny by refunding the whole rental. They can turn around and rent it for that time period easily.

Hell, national corporate companies such as banks and credit card companies even do the right thing in times like this.

People like you are making it very difficult to help these people which I am trying to do. We will be contacting all contracts that cancelled due to flood loss, we just need some kind of verification, we have legal contracts with owners and it had to be approved first, now please let me do my job and quit wasting our precious time so we can help these victims.

At least it looks like they are trying to work out something.

Yea, I feel for the family....but unless the owners said some nasty things along with following their policy, it's a bummer of a story to hear & I feel bad for them
Maybe a GOFUNDME can help?

Its horrible what happened to said family, but if you pay in full for a vacation it better not be every last dollar you have, which apparently it was for these guys trying to cancel a $2k or less trip to free up money. Do you not see the absurdity of this family and their whining? They have no emergency fund or anything and are paying in full for a vacation soon?

You can go through and flag all the bad reviews from people who are pissed about the situation as "conflict of interest".

If enough people do it, Google may remove some of them.

I have a trip booked in September that offered the same insurance. I took the insurance just in case ANYTHING happens.

Same.

While it would be a good gesture for for them to refund their money, that's what the travel insurance is for. They shouldnt be required to give them their money back.

and if they can't and already paid the owner of the condo (Kim Lang may not own the unit) they should just take the hit?

Maybe the rental company can help them sublease it. Then it truly is no skin off of their back.

The rental company has every right to say no. People have every right to blast them for it and negative rate them. The family took a risk, and so too did the rental company in bad publicity in saying no.

Both have to suffer the consequences. .

Situation sucks. Would be cool if the company would give the family an out, like refunding at least half of the money they put down. Understand that the company has no obligation to refund them though. Shitty situation.
