What about writing checks? The proper way to write a check is to have the sum of the check in word for written in cursive and then your signature.

Does it really f'n matter? Print is easier to read anyway.

I would rather use Wingdings than write in cursive.

First, checks, like cursive, are going the way of the dinosaur.

Second, there is no prohibition against printing the recipient, sum, and date on a check. I do it and have never had an issue.

Considering the Declaration of Independence is written in cursive and not hieroglyphics it's probably a wee bit more relevant.

Because the original text is the only way to read it.

My cousin is 22 and only knows how to write his name in cursive.

I'm 32 and only know how to write my name in cursive, and even that's stretching it. Only the First letter in my first and last name is legible. The rest is just lines.

Why would you shake your head? My iPhone has a feature for notes and Word and Excel are connected to it.

Give me one circumstance where I would ever need to use cursive?

It's a waste of time to teach it. This whole "Well I learned it so you have to learn it" attitude is absurd.

My 3rd grader is learning now. After Christmas break, all assignments must be completed using cursive. They will switch to iPads in 4th grade but any written assignments will still require cursive writing.

No they don't. I threw a fit when they tried to teach my oldest daughter to do it ten years ago. It is a waste of teaching resources.

No need for cursive. I remember growing up through school (I'm 28) and hearing "you have to learn this. This is how all adults write"

bullshite. You don't even need to know how to sign your name cause it's just squiggly lines anyway.

My mother in law write her son a letter after he graduated high school and she wrote it in like proper cursive. He had to have her read it to him cause he couldn't hardly read it.

Cursive is totally usless. This should've been the case a long time ago

Sucks because I went through like 3 years of school where they made a huge frickin deal about cursive

"You've got to learn cursive because you can ONLY write in cursive when you get to middle school"

"You've got to learn cursive because you can ONLY write in cursive whenever you get to 8th grade"

"You e got to learn cursive because YOU HAVE TO WRITE IN CURSIVE IN HIGH SCHOOL. THEY DONT PLAY"

Then high school rolls around

"Don't you dare think about writing in cursive, I can't read that shite"

They must REALLY want to cut down on the number of PCAT, GMAT, MCAT applicants I didn't need to write cursive until I had to take the PCAT, and... It was tough. Full paragraph of stuff in writing I hadn't used since... 4th grade?

You don't need cursive for the GMAT, but you do for the GRE.

That first cursive paragraph was the hardest part

I really don't think learning to write in cursive is practical anymore.

Thank you. My handwriting is bad as it is, cursive would make it look like that middle eastern squiggly talk

I love turning in my handwritten script noted to insurance companies when they request medical records. Good luck!
