Carhartt and old navy work well for this.
What I wear.

GAP is the answer. Old Navy is slightly cheaper than GAP (same brand), but sometimes the quality isn't as good. I've gotten some steals though. Bought two pairs for 20 bucks each on Black Friday. And I get compliments on them all of the time, especially the blue ones.

Why not? Some of us have job sites that require steel toe boots and jeans in the Louisiana summer are fricking too hot. I recently got some Weatherproof brand khakis at Stein Mart that have a casual look that lends itself to wear with work boots.

Well that's one thing, but wearing that in an office setting screams "country comes to town".

True, we need people like you to rotate and balance our tires.

I wear khakis and nice ropers in a law office and know a lot of other people who do the same. I don't do it everyday, of course, but it's not weird at all. Live and work in Atlanta, FWIW.
As to khakis, it's a good question. I'm pretty much always searching for the best khakis and khaki shorts, it's like a quest.
For work, I'd suggest Orvis or LL Bean (cheap option). LL Bean has like 4-5 fits I think, and I think they wash and wear well. I love Mountain Khakis, but their sizing is all over the place. They've started to make cotton and canvas pants/shorts with spandex that are insanely comfortable, but until they make them in a business casual style, I can't wear them for work really.

You prob need us to change your oil and a flat tire too... Not bc you don't want to do it yourself but bc you don't have the first fricking clue how.
Worthless mother frickers.

If you're looking for durability, I have a pair of Polo Chino's that I bought in 1999 that I can still fit in (barely).
With that said, good thread. I am obviously in the market for a new (larger waist) pair.

If you live near an outlet mall with a Haggar store, you can pick up some great buys. I bought 4 pairs today (75% off) for 20 & 25 bucks. Very durable pants. I also got some really nice shirts for 10 bucks each.
