Pretty simple Material Balance, really

Stuff In - Stuff Out = Stuff Accumulated

I've said for years that that a-hole with the supersize me BS only fooled dupes. It's calories. You can lose weight eating nothing but McDonald's.

The most basic formulation for losing weight is calories burned > calories taken in. This doesn't surprise me at all, it's amazing how so many people over complicate just basic weight loss.

Maybe.

But it's not going to be healthy. You'll lose muscle.

Keto diets help you lose water weight which is why so many people swear by them. It is like people who lose weight in a sauna

Long term success of keto diets is just because it is extremely hard to eat high calorie amounts on the diet. Combine that with most of those people working out and boom you have weight loss

Years ago when I saw what Michael Phelps ate on a daily basis vs what he burned in a day really drove this home. There are several different ways to lose weight, but it all comes down to simple math in the end.

He super sized fries and soda almost every meal. That alone is some 1000 calories I'm sure.

2 things

prolonged eating this way is not healthy, and he'll even admit it in articles Ive read about him. The impact of an unhealthy diet is felt in years, not weeks.

second thing, he ate about 4 cakes a day. And steak, and vegetables, and protein shakes. Its misleading to say that all his calories can from junk food.

I would still like to see the actual amount ate at each sitting and how many times he ate.

Its not like us sitting down with a box of oreos and milk for a snack. he probably ate like 5 oreos for his meal to keep the calories down.

He lost both fat and muscle if he didn't do any weight resistance training.

i'll pass..

One day people will realize the beauty of intermittent fasting. I literally eat whatever I want but in a 6 hour window. I fast for 18 hours. Weight management has never been easier or more satisfying than this intermittent fasting diet.
