Video from 2014 showed Sumner — a school resource officer assigned to the Covington Independent Public Schools — shackling a crying 8-year-old boy who has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, which makes it difficult for him to focus or control impulses.

It never looks good handcuffing 8 year olds. I don't know what he did but if he was being destructive or violent and wouldn't stop I have no problem with it.

Should have bent him over his knee and whipped his arse.

Should have used the zip-ties instead.

Take your arms and try to touch your elbows behind your back then tell me if what this cop did was OK.

Cop deserves an arse beating.
IDGAF what the kid was doing, he could be sent home.

The radio this morning said the kid special needs. This is wildly different than that.

that is the headline CNN.com had this morning too.

Probably EXACTLY what the kid wanted. Throws another tantrum to get his way.

Kid should learn early on not to question authority.

I said the exact same thing this morning, man
That kid needed to be detained, and he did it the most humanely way possible. Also, the kid was beating on the cop, so it was all justifiable.
All the pussy parents in this thread that think the cop is out of line are the same ones whose kids act like little shits in public because they never got their arse whipped.

+1. I could do it pretty easily until I was 12 or so.

A deputy sheriff is being sued for shackling two Kentucky school children with learning disabilities as punishment for not following directions, according to a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union.

The second plaintiff in the suit, an African-American girl, identified as LG, was twice handcuffed, and held for 20 minutes and 30 minutes. She has ADHD and other special needs.
Gonna be some major hell raised over this.

ADHD is a behavior issue. Not justifying what the resource officer did (they aren't cops are they?).
