Kentucky Derby

I am going with some friends. This will be the first time I have been. I am curious if anyone here has been and what to expect. I have several people tell me its buck wild.

Infield is a blast, if you don't care about seeing the race well. Neighborhood around track is a party also and a good way to make new friends. Now if you are a grandstand baller, that's a whole different animal, which I prefer. Have fun!

I went to Spend A Buck's Derby. It's a gracious sport and the people involved are truly committed to it. It's a beautiful thing to see unfold. Cult-like in a sense. The personalities - from owners, to trainers, to stable hands are story book material.
While you're there, try to get over to Lexington and see a horse farm or two. Gainesway, Spendthrift, Lanes End, Claiborne, etc.

I've only been to the infield and it was a blast. Just about impossible to sneak in booze so start saving up.

All depends where you are: Infield is like Mardi Gras in a fenced in area. Two years ago they added a jumbo-tron bigger than Jerry World so you can watch the race from anywhere in the infield.

My boss is giving us tickets to his suite. Not sure where it is exactly but was told its really nice. He is a drunk and will act a donkey and I am sure it will be a blast.
