Age - 41
Moderately overweight. Could stand to loose about 20-25.

Running on outdoor track. I don't want to injure myself and make this any harder than it has to be. Today was my third time and I feel like I'm doing ok I just want to make sure from someone else who has been doing it for a while. Took me almost 30 minutes to run/jog/walk 2 miles today.

Start slow and correct any "wild" mechanics you might have. Get comfortable with a pace and add distance, then invite me fishing.

You realize you spelled "Jordan" wrong so any advice you EVER give on this site will never be taken seriously, right?

Staying hydrated before and after is huge, especially this time of year.

Don't: just run

Do: Eat right

You're fat because you're lazy and eat like shite. It's not just one or the other.

I am not an experienced runner, but I picked it up a year ago and have really enjoyed it. Some things I've learned

1) Don't listen to people who tell you you're slow.
2) Don't over exert yourself. Nothing will kill your motivation more than an injury.
3) Do change your diet. Those pounds aren't coming off by just running.
4) Do listen to your body. If it hurts and it's not soreness, stop. You will know pain from fatigue. Take a break for a few days. Try again.
5) Do get good shoes. Go to a running store and get them to help you. It will be about $100 for a pair.
6) Do sign up for a race to help keep the motivation.
7) Don't run like an a-hole.

I've heard mixed things on stretching much before a run. Just to lightly stretch

How does an a-hole run? (Not trying to be funny)

Don't: stretch before your run

Do: stretch about 10 min into your run and then again after.
