because so much of the population is on the "other team" you want to deny them voting representation in Congress.

I mainly don't want people whose subsidence is dependent on the government to have an equal say in how that government spends money. I would prefer if the votes of people who pay into the federal tax system (not federal employees) count more than people who don't pay.

Disenfranchising soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines is a bold statement.

Shouldn't they at least get an exemption from federal taxes?

Yet continue to receive Federal benefits?

Another bold idea.

Did the situation in DC change after those people moved into the city or was it like that before they arrived?

The people he's talking about were born there and are not especially mobile. They are the city's native population. "Government workers" and contractors don't give a flying frick about voting rights in DC. I vote in Washington State. Most of my colleagues who are military and govies etc. vote in Virginia or whatever home state they claim. The people who are not getting the vote are people who were born and raised there.

But more and more are moving to Maryland.

Do you really want to give a Representative and 2 Senate seats to a population that voted for this guy until the day he died --

I already voiced my opinion on the District remaining a federal jurisdiction. But I don't think it my place to decide who should and shouldn't have suffrage based upon whatever arbitrary qualifications I might level.

If I asked some of my friends from the NE to weigh in on this things could get very, very dicey for the much of the South in short order.

No! Adding two Democratic Senators is a very bad idea.

I saw this mentioned elsewhere...why not give the land back to Maryland and just make DC a city in Maryland? Do we need a special district for our capital on 2015?

This.

Or just reduce the federal district to a very small area (the White House, Capitol, Supreme Court building, and a few other spots like the monuments.)

There's a bunch of American Democrats living in DC so of course they should not be given representation. Nothing should ever be changed, ever. Unless its to get Republicans more seats in Northern California, or Colorado, or to get St. George the city.
