Ok... here's the deal.

Got two job offers recently.

Job A:
Higher Pay (~20% increase)
Closer Proximity to Home (~10min)
Huge, National Company
Completely new (but learnable) industry (outside sales covering Northshore)

Job B:
Average/Similar pay
Little bit further from home (~25-30min)
Help build a new division from the ground up for a new offering
~4 years Experience in the industry (Metairie; outside sales/internal functions)

Take Option A to live closer to home, more pay, and learn a new skill set and contacts.

You can always go back to Option B in some capacity of A doesn't work out.

Job A

Closer to home and higher pay. Take that all day.

My bad. Not even changing it.

I'm concerned with throwing away the ~4 years of experience in the industry to effectively start over...

I see an overwhelming consensus to Job A... but shouldn't the experience come into play?

Also, the fact that I could come in and help build a new division the way I see fit versus being a number?

I'm talking the difference between a $4B company vs. $30M company...

You should take option B, destroy everyone there, liquidize their assets, then move to option A, and bring the clients from B with you to open a new department at A that you would lead.

Did I win?

But for serious, I would probably take B. A leadership position will lead to bigger and better leadership positions.

I'd go with option A, more pay, closer to home, less risk...

Did you not see the bullet about the "completely new industry"?

That is what I'm on the fence about... I feel like I'd be a number at Job A... but there's absolutely a chance for relocation with the company down the road

I will go against the grain...choose option B. Get the experience of building something from the ground up...more money will come later.
