Do most people get nervous before a job interview? Is it normal to do a lot of preparation or do you think that will just compound the level of emotional anxiety I'm already feeling.

What's to be nervous about?

Well, you don't want to come across like you don't give a shite so some preparation would probably be a good idea. Being nervous is something that you just get better at dealing with. I still get nervous for interviews, but I've gotten more comfortable the more professional experience that I get. You just need to have some confidence.

I'm not sure, but I am for some reason. I guess it's because it's a position that I really want.

I get nervous before every one.
It's natural imo.

Imagine everyone there isn't wearing pants.
If that doesn't help, take their pants off for them. Power move.

of course.
prepare as much as you can.
Once the interview gets going, if you are prepared and confident the nerves will go away.
good luck

Wake and bake before the interview. Problem solved.

For the most part yes but that's the difference between the guys that get hired and those who ply their trade on Craigslist

Yes, it's normal, especially for a student straight out of college. I've gotten to the point where I come in prepared to take notes, research the company thoroughly, but the second I walk in I try not to give that much of a shite when I'm being interviewed and to treat it more as a conversation. If you've prepared properly, then your interview should be highly conversational to where you can go into it confident without acting nervous at all. Take notes when you're asking them questions, but honestly, acting like this is usually a better idea than being overly jittery: LINK

What kind of company are you interviewing with? Why are you so nervous? Don't be nervous.
Posted on 10/12/15 at 11:59 pm to Maverick01
Don't forget to ask for a retainer!

Just remember this. Most people who they interview will be unqualified for the position for one reason or another. The chances are you will be too. Just go in confident that you can put in hard work and adapt to the environment and they'll be impressed with that.
This is coming from someone who is terrible at the job application process and has had a lot of coaching from managers. Hell, someone at a very very large U.S. company told me she didn't give a shite what someone's background was as long as the worker didnt complain and didn't have to google how to do basic excel functions. She said 95% of the people whose resumes crossed her desks were finance and accounting BS or MBA and they all have excel and maybe 1/30 will actually have any competency. That's why she dropped educational requirements from the postings:

I usually just assume I have the job already which allows me to have confidence and the ability to speak more freely. So my advice is to go in with the attitude that you already have the job.
Good luck
