Submitted too quickly:

I have an interview and it's somewhat of a Start up type company.

I have always worn a suit and tie to interviews but my point of contact specifically stated "We're a casual office, no need for business attire"

Khaki's and button down suffice for this? I need some input

If a guy, wear a dress. They will feel obligated to hire you.

Yes. If you wear a suit you are already showing you don't follow instruction.

I would probably still wear dress pants and dress shirt

just no tie or jacket

at least that is what I have worn to those types of interviews where the person specifically told me it was a casual interview

Wear a suit. If you're that worried you can always take off the jacket and/or tie when you get there, but you'd rather have it with you than show up underdressed.

Then don't wear a suit if you actually want to fit in with their culture. But don't be sloppy either. Maybe business casual.

Wear a suit. If you don't, then either wear a coat and not tie OR khakis and nice shirt.

If you go the casual route, mmake sure pants and shirt are pressed and creased.

Call their bluff on the casual thing and go with a Hawaiian shirt and your best pair of khaki cutoff shorts with a straw hat.
