What are the chances of flooding in this area? All is dry as of now.

No real chance of flooding there.

Ward creek is the biggest threat there. Some serious rise would have to occur for that intersection to flood.

Why though? Honest question. What makes this area so less prone to it? That claycut canal is high.

Claycut Bayou empties right at that intersection. I live here. I'm watching the canal right by the house. It's still moving up but incredibly slow. It's gone up less than a foot since midnight. It would have to go up another three-four feet to breach the canal.

Would you mind updating this thread every so often? I'm in Jefferson Highlands and go check it every couple of hours. You could save me a little gas. Of course it does give me something to do, lol.

I'll check it again at 5:00. I need someone on here is better versed in this stuff to give me an estimate as to when Claycut Bayou is supposed to crest. Slowly moving is still moving. The flood plain here is 32 feet and my slab sits at 34. I'm basically on a hill which makes me feel better but I'm still not that high above the plain.

I have a cousin who lives in the townhomes in the neighborhood across Jefferson from the circle k at floynell. I'm hoping that hill is high enough to keep them dry because I can go stay there, if needed.

Updated readings for Claycut Bayou at Antioch. Water is currently 28.42 feet. It was 28.40 at 1:00. So that's pretty good news. It appears to be leveling off a little bit. Still nervous as this is a huge canal line that runs through the middle of South Baton Rouge

Don't celebrate too soon. I just looked at the canal on the old Bluebonnet Rd. That's the very end of Claycut Bayou. The water is up at least another inch since 2:00 and its raining here.

As of a half hour ago the only water outside of the creek was in the extreme front of Jefferson Terrace-the first few streets. And none in homes. The back flow was not really running. It was more just still water, no back flow with current that would be alarming or anything.

There is no water coming into Jefferson Terrace/Bluebonnet Terrace etc from the 1-10 or Bluebonnet sides.
