If that money pit was never hosted in the US again, I wouldn't shed a tear.

At least they're doing it in Los Angeles, the most soulless place in America.

Enjoy that financial albatross you just got, Los Angeles.

You think CA is worried about massive debt and financial burden?

At least they will have seceded by then, so America won't be in debt.

Actually I believe they are going to use a number of existing facilities...

The private LA 2028 bid committee has vowed to control costs by using existing venues such as the Coliseum and Staples Center, as well as the Rams’ stadium currently under construction in Inglewood. Bid leaders have emphasized that the city’s two previous Games, in 1932 and 1984, were financially successful

Good for them. The Olympics is corrupt, especifically the International Olympic Committee.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy seeing people compete in the games, but I think it would be less corrupt of an organization if the politics of where to host the Olympics is taken out.
Why not establish an Olympic city somewhere on each continent (not Antarctica)? And alternate. Of course that would cost a lot of money, but either way.. I will be 50 years old when it comes to L.A.. holy shite!

2028?
Think about this.
The female gymnasts bodies that the OT Is going to be talking about when the 2028 games come around are currently only 7 years old.
Makes you guys seem perverted.

I like that poster.
Also LA makes sense because they won't have to build as much, they can use they existing things they have.

quote:ujhhh what? LA put on the most successful Olympics in modern history from a financial point of view in 1980. Hell, for the people who were around then, wasn't the talk about the Olympics back then was how they were never going to survive into the 21st century because of costs and then the LA Olympics happened and it rejuvenated the interest?
You think CA is worried about massive debt and financial burden?
The fact is LA is going to put this on and won't come close to being a financial disaster. The facilities are there and the infrastructure is there

Pretty sure the U.S. is the only place it actually pulls a profit. Think I read that somewhere. The idiocy of hosting it in 2nd and 3rd world countries should be abolished. It should be a fricking crime.
This is a good thing though.

Maybe they'll be ok, but the corruption of the IOC makes me hesitant to believe it will happen
Posted on 9/13/17 at 6:10 pm to Tigeralum2008
Paris and LA were able to bend over the IOC this cycle because of how poorly the Olympics went for Rio. There were a lot of stipulations the IOC had been using that they dropped because nobody else really wanted to touch them.
