No, he pointed out that terrorists exploit religion. People have always used religion to justify bad deeds. Nothing new, nothing factually inaccurate. He wasn't justifying their actions.

No, he did not.
He pointed out that at various times, certain atrocities have been carried out in the name of Jesus. This is undeniable. He also pointed out that these acts should not be used to paint all Christians in a negative light. Also true.
Then he pointed out that since that line of thinking holds for Christianity, it should also hold for Islam. On that we can debate.
No need to lie to get your point across.

I wasn't aware that infant mortality and crop production in the United States were anywhere close to being issues that needed attention...oh...because they aren't.
