In the market for a new truck. Decided on an F-150 XLT. Dealer still has a 2015 XLT Supercrew 2.7L Ecoboost with package 302A package(rear camera, remote start, power sliding rear window, reverse sensors etc.
Sticker is $41,700. Dealer is offering it at advertised price of $33,285. I shot them a quick email offering $28,500 and within 5 mins Internet manager responded with $30,700 saying he couldn't go any lower without manager approval. Should I counter his offer & tell him to get manager approval?

I'm ok with an 15 btw as I keep my trucks/cars at least 10 yrs, but if I could get a 16 with those options for close to this price, of course I'd opt for a 16.

Lower your offer to $28,000 and ask for manager approval.

They will probably go to $29,500 to $30,000 which would be a good price for that truck.

You aint gonna beAt that. Maybe by 200 or so by fuqing the salesman out of his commission.
Id jump on it and once your signing ask for a free bedliner or other promo.

Pretty good deal, I'd try to be as close to 29 as possible. Truck is almost 2 years old as the '17 will be out in a few months...

I have that exact truck with the chrome package. I think I paid about $33k last August.

Btw, the engine shut off at red light feature gets aggravating after a while. Most days I push the button to disable it. It's the one thing I wish I could change permanently.

You could get a condo in Biloxi for not too much more than the price of that truck.

If that was the truck I had decided on, I'd say thats a pretty great deal as is. But it does sound like you can squeeze him for a few more bucks, if you want to go that route.

Whatever you do, make sure you negotiate on the extended warranty too. Finance guys make a killing on that.

So you think he just threw his best offer out there 5 minutes after I'd emailed him? I think it's a good deal, so maybe I'm wrong in assuming they could go lower and still make a decent profit.

If you're really curious how low they will go, get the entire deal ironed out and ready to go, then walk out.

i love how they negotiate said price of warranty by the amount it increases your monthly bill, not the total cost of warranty. must be a shite load of real idiots out there.

The finance manager is a worthless piece of crap. Whatever you do don't finance the truck through your dealership. They'll hold an APR percentage against the principle and say you qualify for a higher rate, when in actuality, if you cross shop the rates with other financial institutions, you'll see their all lying bastards. The dealership receives kickbacks from banks they CUDL with. Get your own financing through a credit union. Credit unions are always less.

Bad advice. Finance with the dealer and get the rebate they offer, then turnaround and refinance it at a better rate with a credit union or other lender of your choosing. Not financing with the dealer leaves money on the table.

I agree f&i interest rates are higher.
Usually once I have a ballpark price I want to pay I go to my credit union to get preapproved.
Years ago on a used 1 yr old truck the interest rate through neighbors credit union through a dealer f&i was 5.9%. I went directly to neighbors on the same day and got 1.9% on a new or used 1 yr old vehicle max loan was $35,000.
This gave me a lot of ammunition to work out a better price on a new vehicle. I was able to work out a better price because the three dealers I shopped knew I was buying.

TrueCar.com It will give you the spot on price. Since it is a 2015 I would expect a deep discount.

BTW- If you aren't getting "manager approval" you aren't getting a good price. I shopped 2016 Explorers last fall and bought a "sport" version. The dealer I had a deal with tacked on $500 at the out the door pricing. When I pushed back he refused to budge. Then offered to split the difference. I walked for $250 only to find a better model at the same price at a different dealer. This idiot called, emailed and pestered me for 3 days trying to get me back at the original price and agreed to deliver it to our house (63 miles away) We bought the Explorer Sport with Ecoboost from the other dealer. Glad I did
