A female friend of mine, who is really good at her job, was told by a colleague that he didn't think she could handle a certain responsibility "because (she's) a girl". She told her supervisor, who told his supervisor, and he never apologized, only offered an explanation for why he said what he said. Needless to say her jimmies are a rustled.

Thanks in advance for sharing any similar scenarios and results.

Here's her pic so let's get right to some real input.(riggghht)

Well that would be important info. What was his explanation?

The guy sounds like a royal cocksucker for treating her like that in general. But I don't know if she should pursue anything now.

Good point. I'll find out. Brb.

i'd need to know what this explanation was first in order to vote. I mean.....if it was because she cleans restrooms and wanted to go clean the boys' restroom while there were some guys in there, it makes a HUGE difference in my decision. get it?

Was the job writing her name in the snow with her urine stream? Cause if so he kind of has a point.

Not sure I can say that till she frickin replies(hurry bitch!) but it's definitely a profession you see women doing regularly. Actually probably more women than men make a living at it. It's not a firefighter or some physically demanding profession.

At any rate, that sounds like it would be more a discrimination vs. harassment ..

Do you know what sexual harassment is? That story falls under discrimination.

I assume mikelbr is well versed in what is and what isn't sexual harassment at work.

The job certainly was not polishing knobs, because she looks like she'd be pretty good at that task.

And I assume OP is white knighting for her to try to get in her pants, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Is it something like Pharmaceutical sales? Perhaps there is a particular customer who the boss knows would respond better to a male salesman.

Was the "certain responsibility" impregnating a woman or trying on men's clothing items for fit?

If not, it was probably not the best comment for him (and by him I mean "you") to make.

I agree. She's not leaving the job far as I know. She's very good at it and it's clear that this dude was wrong early on.

She answered. His explanation was centered around women not handling project management well.

Pole dancing is pretty demanding physically.
