Is there a more undesirable job than being a police officer in this country?

In the year 2015 with a camera in literally every person's hands and recording everything cops do making it impossible to get away with improper conduct, putting your life on the line, dealing with punks and horrible people in general....I can't think of any reason why anyone would want to be a cop? You just can't win. What drives people to become cops in such an environment? What motivations do they have to take up this line of employment? Surely there are better ways to earn a living?

There are probably hundreds.

-Garbageman
-snakehandler
-cleanup guy on the midnight shift at an adult movie house

etc

There's a reason applications are down 90% over the past 10 years.... Which in turn gives us worse officers.

What I think is funny is that they've been beatin arse on Cops for years, why are people all up in arms about it all the sudden?

That totally sucks. If you can't illegally frick up or kill someone without having some bleeding heart record it, what's the point of being a cop?

I mean, they do, but not more than truck drivers, pilots, garbage men or mine workers.

I'm sure it sucks to do that job in several areas of the country, but the majority of the country is probably not a crazy hard job. Most are just good guys trying to make a living despite what the tards on the internet and the race baiters say on tv all day.

And you base this on what...the youtube videos that get posted that represent less than 1% of the entire workforce?

I live in a small city that is fairly well to do (that's not a brag, it's certainly not my salary that contributes to that) that has a police force of maybe 25ish. Our community loves the police force and know many of them by name. The department from the lower level beat guys all the way up to the chief are great people.

I would love to see what your boss would say if he had a camera on you watching you post on TD right now

It was badly worded...what I meant to say was they have to basically do their jobs with people constantly watching and recording and high levels of public scrutiny and pressure and Monday Morning Quarterbacking. Do you really want to be in such a job if you had a choice?
