I know people with kids who have their 2 year olds in a school/day care kind of thing. At that age everything is taught through games and things like that, so you might as well.

I had my youngest in Pre-K 3 while the other was Pre-K 5 so I only had only place to corral the kids in the afternoon.

We have our 2 year old in a daycare that does some teaching. This daycare is Mon-Fri 6 am to 6pm (if needed), all year round.

We looked in to Pre-K 3 at the Catholic school near the house. It is Mon-Fri from 9am to 2pm and only operates when regular school is in session.

My point is if we were to change then I would need to get before and after care and find a place to put my 3 year old during the summer. Kids gonna stay in daycare at this point. Something to think about.

Due to my daughters birthday she started Pre-K when she was 3. Although it was only about a month into the school year she turned 4. Really depends a lot on the kid I suppose.

The hours don't make sense if you work. If you don't work, it's a great way to socialize/get used to the "idea" of school.
As far as learning goes? Meh. I've seen tons of kids go to kinder without ANY pre k and they do fine.

I have my 3 yr old twins in a Catholic preschool 3 days a week for 3.5 hours a day. They love it. They play more than anything, but do get some age appropriate learning time as well. I struggled with cost and where to go. I am so happy with the program though. Makes me happy to see them so excited to go. They will be doing pre-k at the same place this Fall.

I figure this is a good place to ask, but does anyone else want to see Sir Toppamhat blow up on Thomas one day and fire him for constantly screwing up?

It's also a great way to get them feeling confident/comfortable with the group of kids they will go on to kinder with.
WELL. Worth the $

3 am is a little early to start. 7:30 maybe.

IMHO 7:30 is way too early. A lot of them start at 9, ends at 2 and includes a nap. Those are the best hours you're going to get from a 3 year old

Private schools require that the kindergarteners know a certain amount before entering so if they need the extra help to catch up then yes.

If you're expecting him/her to get ahead by starting "school" early, then it's probably not going to happen (see the Head Start data). Most kids of average intelligence who enter kindergarten "behind," quickly catch up with peers. Chances are, though, that if a parent stayed home with the child, he/she will ultimately surpass other kids.

If you're just wanting him/her to socialize, then you don't need a 5 day/8 hour program to do that.

My opinion based on data and my own experience.

Normally I'd say yes, but since you seem to be advanced enough to post on the internet and type out coherent sentences, maybe you should look into some advanced schooling.

Good luck young man.

St Thomas More in BR has drop offs for the preschool starting around 7am and the teaching part goes from 8-1 or 2. An aftercare program runs from the end of the teaching until 6pm.
