Is Paris the world's most revered city?

And thus its most sacred?
I ask because I just saw "Diplomacy" on Netflix, an account of General von Choltitz's decision to defy Hitler and not destroy the city.
Sure, there's Rome... but whereas Rome is definitely more an historical treasure its mystique is all about power and world domination and mythology.
Paris is about art and light, and the beauty of people.
I vote Paris.

Vatican City isn't technically a city so I'll go with Mecca

I vote Paris.

Never been there, so it's hard to say, but - gun to my head? I'd prolly say Paris.

Sacred implies a center of religion. I guess that depends on your perspective. I don't think of Paris really when I think of religion. Rome and Jerusalem probably have it beat from that perspective. Mecca is synonymous with religious center. What would be it for the eastern world? New Delhi in India? Eta: something in Nepal?

Rome

I'll be there at the end of the month, looking forward to it. Plan is to eat and get drunk all over France.

Revered? yes. Despite what one might think of the French, spending a week in Paris makes you immediately want to live there. It also feels like the height of modern Western civilization. Hemingway and all that jazz. Sacred? No. I reserve that for Vatican City. But there is no where on earth like the city of light. Especially when you're there with your woman.

"Sacred" has multiple meanings. I obviously wasn't referring to religion.
- secured against violation, infringement, etc., as by reverence or sense of right:
- properly immune from violence, interference, etc., as a person or office.
If a belligerent alien race came down to Earth and wished a purely mean display, and gave me the choice of the following to destroy, but it must be at least one,
Mecca
Jerusalem
Rome
Paris
London
I'd choose Mecca.
Paris goes last... it must be secured against violation and destruction before any other city on Earth, and I haven't even been there.
