Media would have you believe LA is a bunch of alligator hunting, crawfish catching, underwater log hunting misfits who found themselves in a hilarious situational comedy together and decided to call it Louisiana. Plus there's the whole tranny/criminal/voodoo side of NOLA that seems perfectly made for TV.

However, the folks I have met from there seem fairly normal and adjusted.

What is day-to-day life like down there?

Yes. That's exactly what it's like. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to take the fan boat out to catch tomorrow's breakfast - squirrel eggs.

If you're asking if Louisiana is better than Alabama, then yes.

Squirrel is bad eats all around, and I'm pretty sure it can frick you up with poor preparation. Especially the eggs.

It is closer to that depiction of you go to the backwoods and small towns in LA. If you are in Baton Rouge, then it's no different than your average sized city. It just has Cajun food.

Yep. Everybody is sweating and our days are spent sitting in old buildings downtown or front porches, wearing three piece suits with brim hats, sipping bourbon while a ceiling fan barely spins overhead.

Well...for what it's worth I did have a couple of alligators pop up in my back yard growing up.

I've lived in both Louisiana and Alabama and for the most part they are both very similar.
