Is it UnLouisianain to not like Beignets?

They are ok but not the end all be all that the masses make them out to be. I have always had them shoved in my face growing up here in Louisiana but don't see the hype. I was down in N.O. for French Quarter fest and a couple of people with us couldn't leave without getting some and I didn't see the point. And go.........

I only have them a few times a year, I don't go looking for them, but they are damn good..if they don't live in a La, not leaving without them is ok, even if they do live here, French Quarter Fest..beignets,just wanted to get the whole experience, I still get it.

I would do about anything for a beignet right now. and a crawfish boil with garlic! So, yes it is, UnLouisianain!

Since Katrina there is a New Orleans Totalitarianism that needs to stop. Yes there is nothing overly special about the Beignet. I applaud your free thought on this matter.

Everyone is from Louisiana. Lives within 50 miles of N.O. Yet we couldn't leave without getting some beignets. And they thought something was wrong me for not wanting any. Just don't get it.

Beignets are pretty great. I mean, it's fried dough topped with powdered sugar. There is probably something wrong with you if you don't like them.
But yeah, people that always make a big stink about having to have cafe du monde are a pain in the arse. Beignets are good, but cafe du monde is a fricking cluster frick during any touristy event.
Besides, Morning Call in New Orleans and Coffee Call in Baton Rouge are both MUCH better than Cafe Du Monde any day of the week.
