It is in your best interest to do so regardless if it's mandatory or not

It's cheaper than a lawyer.

I don't know if it varies by parish or if it is a state law, but when I worked in permits and inspections for a parish government, it was required.

Maybe not, but it sure seems like a commonsense good idea to protect your property.

Cost of Extinguisher... $10

Cost of Deductible..... 2% of Replacement Cost

I'm not sure about requirements but I put a white one in the kitchen and a red one upstairs by the bedrooms and three smoke alarms and two CO2 alarms in mine.

Will your insurance money cover the liability lawsuit if someone is hurt?

Let me offer y'all another tip most people don't think about:

Keep a decent sized extinguisher under your bed or close by in a bedroom closet.

Depends on when the dwelling was built.
Anything built in last 15 years is required.
I am not sure if it must be in the apartment or just one available in the breezeway.

These are cheap & can prevent major damage

STOVE TOP FIRE STOP

ETA
to be used along with fire extinguisher
