Chimes is a Yankee establishment.

I only drink unsweet tea, when it passes these lips, it don't need any more sugar

Still less sugar than your average soft drink.

sweet tea has more sugar than Coke usually

Sweet tea is too damned sweet. I prefer it unsweetened.

I usually ask for the half sweet/half unsweet mixture.

How about getting a glass of iced tea and adding your own sugar.

I've never had a problem getting sweet tea anywhere

I prefer unsweetened iced tea now compared to when I was younger,

Most restaurants make it way too damn sweet. Sweet Tea should only have 1 cup sugar per Gallon. Most Places just dump sugar in it,then you have to mix in unsweet to make it drinkable.

Well considering American Coke uses high fructose corn syrup you would be correct. Even Mexican Coke uses 30-40% hfcs with the test real sugar.
And I grew up on sweet tea but I can drink it both ways.

A Palmer is really the only way to go

Growing up I hardly remember anywhere in BR or La south of Alexandria offering sweet tea. It's more of a traditional south thing.
Frankly I find it disgustingly sweet, and it's fitting for the more simple palates of MS and AL. To this day, I have never recalled such childish taste preferences at the table as displayed by people from MS I knew back in college. I.e. Would not eat a burger if it had anything other than ketchup. Would not eat on plate with various foods mixed together. These were supposedly sophisticated people from good MS towns.

No, but it's a sign that I'll be having a Coca-Cola.

Cause nothing says sophistication like various foods mixed together on you plate.
