I used to work in the service industry and interacted with 100s of people per day and one of the things I learned about this world is that there are a ton of shitty and completely worthless people.

Why are we only executing first degree murderers? Why not execute the guy that kills 57 dogs, or a 50 something career criminal that has been in and out of jail their whole adult life? Why can't we invoke some "detriment to society" law where if someone is just a piece of shite we can get rid of them?

I guarantee this lady that plowed down 40 people on Las Vegas Blvd won't face the death penalty due to some type of mental anguish defense. She above anyone else should be put down immediately, she is a lifelong loser that took someone else's life for no reason. frick this political correctness bullshite, there are way too many scumbags in our country it's time we start eradicating the ones that engage in criminal behavior.

I'm not, but it would help if we could start shaming the shite out of people who do shitty things. Or hell, we don't have to be cruel about it, but stop pulling punches.

But we're not supposed to. We give discrete food stamp cards to people so they don't feel bad about themselves. We treat abortion for convenience with kid gloves rather than telling people it's a trashy thing to do. It's somehow wrong to make spectacles out of parents of awful children.

Did they determine they were pets and not wild dogs? Big difference.

If you're going to execute people that kill animals, why be arbitrary about which animals are being killed? If you eat meat you are responsible for more animals deaths. Should we execute you?

The rest of your post has merit but this is stupid

As many shitty people in this world deserve death, I am opposed simply because I have zero faith our judicial system will get it right. It would turn into a system of favors, good ole boys, and stepping stones in a DA's, LEO, and judges careers. Not too different than what we have today.

Honestly, how many innocent people do you think have been executed in Louisiana alone? Was it worth it?

This is where we've gone wrong. Shaming is an effective tool that we've decided is too cruel...but we want to kill more people. The death penalty is great in theory, but the entire process can last decades and has become very political and expensive. There's also the problem of killing people who are innocent, which with advancements in technology (DNA testing) we find are more common than we'd like to admit.

Only if the wronged family is the one who carries out the punishment.

Scruffy does believe in corporal punishment though.

Which is precisely why it makes more sense to do it now, WITH those advancements in technology making it far less likely to wrongly convict.

And that also is not the point of this thread. If a person is arrested 20+ times and is a pure piece of shite that also has violent crimes or rape on his rapsheet, then it's impossible to get it wrong. The guy is obviously a detriment to society, and should be eliminated. I believe that's the point the OP is trying to make.

Would this include the white collar folks? I would be on board with this too.

You want to execute people who haven't committed a violent crime?

I agree that this lady should be put down, but you can't start putting people down for every little thing.
