Good for her, but does there need to be a separate world championship for women? It's not like different sexes can't compete equally.

That same year, her parents moved to Tbilisi, the capital and the largest city of Georgia, where she grew up with dual citizenship – Georgian and Russian. Paikidze's Georgian first name, Nazí (????) translates as "gentle". She has explained that the correct pronunciation is "nah-ZEE". She was named after her grandmother.

Because it's a game that has been dominated by men. Giving women separate tournaments gives them a chance to succeed — which inspires more women to play, and hopefully leads to a day where you don't need separate tournaments. There have been those who have argued that splitting them up makes women feel inferior and can be a turn off to the game, but the conventional wisdom has been that allowing for their own titles is a good thing to promote play.

Additionally, there aren't chess tournaments that are male-only and female-only; we have regular chess tournaments, which are open to everyone, and female-only chess tournaments. If there was a woman good enough to play at the same level as top-level male players, she wouldn't be denied entry.

Zero.

Flip the script. I recall a year or two ago a woman on an American beach being forced to take her hijab off because "When in American, you do as Americans", and the far right was cheering it on.

Yep. When a foreigner comes here, many folks demand they adopt out customs and assimilate.

But when an American travels, they want to be able to do as they want.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Exactly what a far right conservative would say, because he literally can do nothing else by criticize due to his agenda not being matched.
