Ok I have an iPhone 5 jailbroken and never updated to iOS7.

What steps do I need to take to make sure everything is backed up when I update the jailbreak? Don't want to lose any contacts, pictures, or jailbreak things I've paid for.

Don't bother with the jailbreak right now man. Wait a little while. I just tried it and it bricked the shite out of my phone.

Do I just backup the normal way if I want to switch to iOS7? I feel like it has 90% of the jailbreak stuff anyway.

You're JB without iOS 7? I'd backup to iTunes and iCloud, update to iOS 7.04. (that'll get rid of JB, right?), and JB again. I was already on iOS 7.04, but had to backup and redownload via iTunes.

iPhones don't brick anymore. All you have to do is reboot in DFU mode, and retire from your last backup.

That's what I'm in the processing of doing right now. Such a pain in the arse.

Thanks. Anyway to save all the jailbroken apps/tweaks or do I need to start over if I jailbreak 7?

Update to the latest firmware via iTunes instead of doing it over Wi-Fi. There's some nerd stuff going on with it creating issues for people that updated OTA (over the air). I'm downloading the latest update and me being in BFE is making this an all-day event.

Damn I did the same mess up as you. How do I get it off this screen and how can I re-update via iTunes?

Pkg Backup, or just take pics/write down your packages/sources. If you back them up via Pkg Buckup, the ones that iOS 7 ready should just need an upgrade.

I don't see any of the jailbreak sites touting MS is released, but BiteSMS has been released. Going to jailbreak my 5S when I get home now.

BiteSMS wasn't released. It's a test version and from the MacRumors forum people are saying an official beta will probably release soon.

Do I have to JB again, or will it update within Cydia?

Are you actually getting biteSMS to work? I installed it and the icon is nowhere to be found.
