The pursuit they began has ended in a crash in Avondale with shots fired and the scene is still active, all according to Mandeville Chief Sticker.
Neither Causeway Police nor Mandeville Police discharged their weapons.

Update. Suspect is alive and waving his gun
"According to Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand, Darcy is alive and in his vehicle, waving a firearm. Officials said they have been in contact with his mother.
Buildings near the area of Highway 90 have been evacuated as a precaution. Normand said an officer suffered a graze wound to the finger during the shootout.
Mandeville PD officials said two of their officers are on the scene, as well as SWAT."

I like the Dallas PD solution of delivering some explosives via robot as a great way to end something like this.

Ol' girl "noped" her way out that situation. Good for her.
quote:
The woman who was kidnapped managed to escape and is safe, Normand said. The woman, who is from Mandeville and met the man online, got together with him Tuesday night in Lacombe, according to Becky White of the Mandeville Police Department. At some point, he bound her with zip ties and blindfolded her, White said. As the truck was approaching the Causeway, the woman jumped out and ran to a nearby Rouse's market, where an employee called Causeway police and the chase began.

Apparently this idiot was towing a trailer through the whole situation. He's too stupid to live. They should shoot this moron right now and consider it a job well done. He's white, nobody is going to protest.
Here's a couple of tips for any potential kidnappers on the board:
First, if you're gonna pretend to be an undercover vice cop, buy some fricking handcuffs and unhitched the trailer before you attempt to abduct your victim.
Secondly, if your victim bails out of the vehicle, do not, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, get on the Causeway. The 24 mile long bridge really limits your escape and evasion options.

So they let the guy drive all of the way across the causeway, all of the way through Metairie, across the Huey P, take a left, and then go to Avondale before getting in a shootout? What kind of chicken shite police work is that. The story is either BS, or this is a complete failure on the part of four police departments
Negative props to:
Mandeville PD
STPSO
Causeway PD
JPSO
Eta: I'll add LSP to that list because he probably got on the interstate for a hot minute

They literally had 30-45 minutes of this guy going straight on a road where he couldn't go anywhere else. He was stuck for that long on the causeway and the Huey P, and couldn't turn off.....yet they let him keep driving.
I wonder if they waited politely behind him while he stopped at red lights and stop signs
