Insurance legal question (Louisiana)

I sent in my normal payment to agent
Agent receives payment but sits on check and does not notify broker or underwriter
15 days later I'm notified by agent that my policy is cancelled for lack of payment

WTF? Isn't payment to agent as, far as I'm concerned, payment to underwriter?

agent should be able to get policy reinstated. (what type of policy exactly through what broker?) Your agent fricked you though, probably time to move your shite.

Agent is on the hook. His E&O carrier is your insurer until the policy is reinstated or new coverage is bound.

Lazy/careless agents aren't anything new. Stay on top of the situation and they'll get you reinstated. Considering a switch to someone more attentive to things such as remitting payment on your behalf is advisable.

Keep your proof on you and contact the insurance company and tell them what happened, if they don't want to work with you, a call to the insurance commissioner will do the job.

I don't use an agent. I have my account set up w/ the insurance company, the premium is automatically deducted from my checking account, and I've never been canceled for non-payment.

See what I'm saying here?

Have civil discussion with agent advising this is their mistake and have them get the company to reinstate said policy.

Two weeks later, give an AOR to another agent.

Agent said he emailed broker that payment was received but agent wont forward me that email
