IOW trainers that want the money you're getting from selling the watch.

This has been great.

to OP:

If you would have actually included the details you have now, people would not have talked trash. Calm down. Using the term "inherited" rather than gifted or some other term for procuring the Rolex made it seem like a very poor decision to sell your FIL's watch.

Chill out.

His poor choice of words caused a huge misunderstanding of what the events were. And then he chose to mother frick everyone which isn't generally well accepted. Just a clusterfrick all the way around.

Inherited a Rolex and I'm wondering if it's a cheap Rolex or mid grade or higher end. Any info I could give for some advice? I gave it sitting in front of me. TIA

Talked to these guys they will treat you right I gaurantee it. H.Q. Milton Talk to a guy named Jacek and he will ask for some high resolution pictures and make you an offer on it. I have dealt with him three times and he was more than fair.
By the way the date magnification looks off but it could just be the angle.

Let me guess. He can go pro in four sports, it's just a matter of which one he wants to be a first ballot hall of famer in?

If you are looking for birth year watches that is a really good site to go to.

Broke or other watch guys,
I have recently gotten more into watches and am thinking of getting a higher end at some point. If I went with Rolex Sub, would I bet any worse off getting a birth year (1984) vs a more modern (ceramic bezel)?

You would likely spend less money this way. But a new watch will cost more and have no need for servicing and a better movement

If you go with a 1984 this was a transition year with the 1680 going to a 16800. The 16800 has a sapphire crystal. Also be aware that the early 16800 did not have the white gold surrounds around the tritium. Collectors like them without the surrounds. It would be called a matte dial. I like the look of the tritium turning to a yellow color on the markers. Good luck.

Thanks

LINK

Hmm, it looks like this one has the white gold around the tritium?

Also, a 30 year old watch is not going to have much of a lume, correct? I may sell my waverunner that I haven't ridden in a while and pull the trigger on something like this.

The lume is probably gone. Superluminova didn't come around until the early 90's and tritium was gone by then.

Okay then. Why didn't you ask the jeweler for resale value? One can also estimate this from the appraisal.

Everyone just stay the hell away from matte dial '84 16800's.

Mine is from 84 and came serviced. Absolutely no glow at night though. Scratches very easily too

Must be a 5513 with the plexiglass crystal. Very easy to polish.

Wouldn't your son/future son appreciate having his grandfather's watch at some point when he's a young man?
