Looks like my 2-cycle Lawn Boy bit the dust. Any recommendations for replacement? Only requirement is that replacement lawn mower must be self-propelled.

Any cheap deck with a Honda motor. Check Lowes.

Got a Troy for around $150. Had it a year now and use it every weekend in the summer, 2-3 weeks in the fall and idle in winter. Always starts on the first pull. I have a medium size yard, it gets the job done.

Correction $200, but I had a $50 off coupon

Toro's are nice but I don't need a push mower for much work, mostly brush hogging and riding mower. However, I have a Troy Bilt with a Honda motor and that thing starts on the first pull and runs extremely well.

Only push mower I've ever had that cranks every time. Every damn time... crappy ethanol gas and all.

Every TORO I've ever had is a POS. Honda motors are better than Briggs.

Briggs, Kohler, Honda, etc. are all good engines. Ethanol gas will destroy them all, however.

Get one with a Honda engine. I have a Husqvarna with a Honda engine. I pull it out of the garage after a long winter and it fires up on the first pull every time.
Even with old fuel with no stabilizer.

Toro

Bought a lower end one for about 200 at Tubbs Hardware last year. It's been great. No prime, just rip and it starts every time.

In a pinch I bought a Brute from wal mart . Needed it right away. Briggs and Stratton engine. 22 cut. Self propelled. Still going strong 10 years later.

Found a self-propelled Briggs and Stratton branded mower at Wal-Mart. I've seen their engines for years, but had never seen one like this before (black and yellow). Had more features than most others at that price point. Spent less than $300 and hoped to get a few years out of it. Has been a great lawn mower. Bagger, rear wheel drive, 4 wheel adjust with one handle, variable speed, water wash out port, large engine. I've got a large yard, and works great. Sure beat spending a grand on a Honda at the time.

Hondas don't break. I haven't had to fix mine in years.
