Image Copyright laws

Say someone has an image they created for a business logo but has let that business go several years ago and is no longer affiliated with it. If i decide to use that logo (it's just a caricature) and put it on a shirt what are the ramifications?

They are gonna be very upset with you, and will probably write you a strongly worded letter. Guide yourself accordingly

i don't plan on marketing the image. I just want to make a few shirts for myself with the images on them.

If you're not selling them what damage is being sustained by the original copyright holder?

If you aren't selling them and are just making them for personal use, you should be fine.
