Nope, I ditched Apple for a Nexus 6 last year, and kept unlimited. Did the upgrade 100% online, too.
I do think AT&T will eventually phase us out. They'll con as many people as they can into ditching unlimited "willingly," and then they'll do what Verizon did and stop allowing subsidized upgrades unless you switch, at which point I'll be on Straight Talk.

I have 30 gigs a month shared between an iPhone and a tablet and I go over sometimes.
Hot damn. How much do you pay a month?

I received that same msg a few months ago so I looked through my sons account. AT&T had my son using some of his data when he would be connected to wifi. I was told by their customer service that the phone picks up the strongest signal even conneted to wifi. They then proceed to tell me that I had to go into settings and turn off cellular data so this wouldn't happen again. It hasn't happened again and it does get a little aggravating to remember to turn cellular data back on when you leave wifi connection.

And you get a text saying that you have reached 16 gigs, you better check your data app. They sent me a text saying that I was at 16 and really I was only at 12. They have resorted to lying now about your data usage to get people to use wifi to avoid being throttled at 22 gig
I'm grandfathered in with unlimited data. I think they must throttle you sooner than 12-16GB. They start sending me throttling text at 4GB. WTF?? Doesn't matter to me, I continue to keep it on cellular only - even if I want to stream something to help me sleep better at night - which I do every night. I never check my data and really never go to WiFi

They are now throttling at 22 gigs. At least that what my message indicated.

I got the nationwide talk text last week.

I'm about to upgrade my iPhone to the newest one so I'm curious how that will play out with keeping my unlimited plan.
I've upgraded a lot of times. It doesn't effect your plan IF you tell them "I want to keep my existing plan. " and I'll repeat it again "I want to keep my UNLIMITED data plan. Do you understand?"

My wife went from IPhone to Android with no problem.
Posted on 10/5/15 at 8:28 pm to slinger1317
Not true. I've gone back and forth a few times from iphone to android.
Never going back now, but still.
50-70gb a month.
LG.

What app tracks data usage?
The main benefit of unlimited - I never check my data.
Posted on 10/5/15 at 8:42 pm to Supermoto Tiger
I have unlimited and have never tracked. I'm curious as to how much I used though. I think I'm probably less than 3gb/mo

One of the downfalls of unlimited plan is they won't let you use your phone as a hot spot. Always gets me thinking but never want to pull the trigger on getting rid of unlimited data.

We have a business account with several unlimited plans and the only downside is an employee with an iPhone can't switch to an android and vice versa. I guess it's something AT&T is using to try to nitpick and find any way they can to take away unlimited.
In June I changed from an iPhone to an Android phone and kept my unlimited plan.

Thanks for posting this. I have an unlimited plan too and AT&T has been throttling me for years at 5 GB. I was very close to switching to a regular data plan a couple of times because I was effectively operating with a 5 GB per month plan (I have been throttled many times and the speeds were painfully slow). I guess AT&T quietly increased their throttling cap to 22 GB recently. Small win for the consumer in the wake of their $100 million fine from the FCC.

I used to have unlimited but switched to 40GB Rollover, (shared) and I have yet to be throttled once ,
Plus have tons of rollover which is basically having unlimited, plus the benefit of the hotspot
