If you want to be a public figure, should you be subjected to public scrutiny?

With some many people in Louisiana willing to step up and become the faces of racism, oppression, bigotry, etc... Should these people face the scrutiny that comes with being a public figure? Should the masses be silenced just because these individuals don't like what is being said about them?

All families should be off limits, from actors, athletes, the our President.... It doesn't matter someone not involved should not be brought up.

No. Speaking publicly about ideas is about starting a conversation about how right those ideas are. For people to question the validity of those ideas is against the first amendment and infringes on one's right to free speech.

Only positive feedback on this post, or you will be repeated.

Yes they should. She who shall not be named should be included. And the "no children rule" shouldn't apply in her situation

When you say public figure do you mean elected officials? Anyone in the public eye will be scrutinized whether they want to or not. And to some degree they should and no, the masses should not be silenced just because public figures don't like what is being said about them.

If you are a public figure, you should be aware of the fact that you will scrutinized for any and every little thing you do and.. at least in America, I don't think a public figure can silence the masses. If you get bent out of shape because what people are saying then it's probably not something you should be doing.

The wouldn't they be involved? How else would they threaten me, unless they said it to someone who then repeats it via an online forum.

If they do it on their own private page that is one thing. If their going public trying to get their name out with blogs, books, etc and leave their Facebook open because they use it for advertising then they would be a business. Open for for the public imo

Those two women and the fat guy should be free game. They post trash to incite reactions within their echo chambers. Facts are inconveniences to them, so they leave them out. False prophets seem to get immunity here.
