We have prescribed many dozens of bottles of this product at our hospital. Results were mixed but most times Zymox, with and without Hydrocortisone. was not as effective as case specific products and we have mostly discontinued prescribing it. Believe me, we want those ears cleared up as much as you do. Frustrating problem. And PS for all you jerks insinuating our greediness, our price was $18.00 (1 cent more expensive than Amazon and you didn't have to pay shipping, even if you didn't order $35 worth.) Glad it worked for your dog.

I found this last year and it has worked well. After a couple of days the smell is gone and ear mites dead. They also have a wash you can use.

Tea tree oil works better /thread

it's not th cost of the prescription it's the cost of tests and office visits one after another
after th first visit and test ("your dog has this kind of ear crud"), it gets frustrating to keep going back just to try another eardrop
give us a list...try on after another till something works
if you're prescribing OTC stuff then no need for the follow up visits

You are obviously a vet...don't want to upset you. We have tried so many different prescription ointments with minimal, short term success. This is the very first thing that has even come close to anything prescription strength. It works! I am just so happy I can get it without having to pay a vet fee, culture fee, etc.

Thank you! If it works as well as the reviews indicate then this will be huge for me. I have to take mine to the vet twice a year to deal with ear infections, and I should take her more often. Ordered it just now and will try monday.

Follow up is to make sure the product you are using is working. If it clears it up but the problem returns, the medication is working but the underlying problem, usually allergies, allows it to return. If it isn't completely clearing it up the first time, a different produce is indicated. The choice of medicines is dependent on what is causing this infection, mites, yeast, bacteria, (Many to choose from and different antibiotic susceptibilities.) Plus, after one is cleared the next infection may be a completely different bacteria with a different antibiotic required to kill it. Sorry it isn't as straightforward and simple as it seems like it should be. Again, allergies are the most common underlying problem and you know that you can't treat your own allergy one time and be forever done.

Not at all upset. We understand the frustration. Frustrates us also.

We had the same exact issue with one of my labs. Had to go to the vet every 3 months. Ordered that stuff on Amazon almost a year ago and haven't had any issues since. Stuff really works.

I picked up some of this stuff after reading this post. I have a Basset Hound. She has always battled ear issues so i had nothing to lose. Used it for one week then hit her with some zymox flushing solution and THIS STUFF WORKS! Her ears have never been this clean.
Proof
They're so clean you could eat out if them!

Man, don't let these guys mess with you. I, for one, really appreciate this info. Just took mine in two weeks ago and got a couple hundred dollar bill for a quick test and a squirt of some long acting antibiotic liquid in her ears at Sherwood South. Vet bills have gotten so ridiculous. They are truly taking advantage of pet owners....i am ordering this now. Has been a long term problem for my lab mix.

I ordered this for my cocker spaniel mix and so far it seems to be working pretty well. Thanks OP.
