And now they're getting their asses sued for it....

quote:

A veteran ESPN announcer sued the sports network Monday for firing him during the Australian Open over accusations that he had used an ethnic slur against tennis superstar Venus Williams.

quote:

Doug Adler, who began working for ESPN in 2008 covering the world’s biggest tennis matches, came under fire for a comment on Jan. 18 when he said Williams used “the guerrilla effect.” The comment went viral because it was pushed along by the New York Times on twitter labeling it as the “appalling” term “gorilla,” which “ignited the flames of anger and hatred” against Adler, the lawsuit said. Adler was fired two days later.

Need to know if Adler was white so I know if I should be offended or not

Firing may be stupid, but I'm not sure what this even means.

You won't even be able to say the word black in the future.

I didn't know either but it appears to be a "common term" used in tennis circles. I dunno. I don't play tennis.

Just another day in the SJW world. Funny the parallels between this and the Judge situation in Baton Riuge. The mob demands a head and whether the person is guilty or not has nothing to do with it.

It's clear to anyone with even a modest vocabulary that he meant "guerilla". Also kind of messed up that Venus declined to comment about it.

Welcome to our new world, where everything said or printed must be literal and without color. No metaphors, no similes, no hyperbole. We are practically witnessing the death of the English language.

Well if that's the case, it's REALLY stupid. I'm gonna Google and see.

I don't follow tennis but I'm going to guess it means an unpredictable but effective method of charging the net and subsequently retreating to throw the opponent out of their rhythm

It isn't a tennis term

Look, I don't think the guy is racist. But the guerrilla effect is not a tennis term

Is that something Venus does? I wouldn't know but i thought the Williams sisters mostly used a power game.

I read somewhere (over the past weekend) that the term "guerrilla" was coined during the Spanish Civil War.

I'm too lazy to look it up.

Hope you're mending well Darth, keep on keepin' on.

And I am telling you. It isn't a common term. I am being honest when I say I have never heard it used besides this one time

I don't play tennis, but I've seen a gorilla piss in its hand then drink it.
