Can East Baton Rouge Parish borrow one of these cameras for North Baton Rouge?

There's a simple solution here.
Posted on 4/18/17 at 4:22 pm to Will Cover
They're going to rack up a bunch of fines that no one will pay.

Uh, just pay your insurance premium!

As someone who lives in Iberville Parish and was in a wreck in which an uninsured driver hit me when she failed to yield.. I am all for this.

These people should all be investigated immediately. These types of things need to be vetted to the fullest before they are allowd to proceed.

We need to kick Iberville's arse back across the mighty Mississippi. Why do they think they get a little piece of land east of the river?

Who is the Louisiana Consortium for Public Safety? That’s a bit more difficult to answer. It doesn’t have a website, and Googling it doesn’t get you a lot. We looked it up at the Secretary of State’s website and found out that it’s an out-of-state enterprise run by a Mike McGrey of Seneca, South Carolina, with a Louisiana attorney, David Birdsong, as its agent. And a little digging on McGrey uncovers that the company he really works for is IX Group out of Raleigh, NC, which is a national firm pushing these license plate scanners. From the “About Us” page at that company’s website…
IX Group, Inc. was founded to provide: Instant, Accurate, Non-Invasive Insurance Verification and Compliance. Because the system is automatic, non-invasive and both intrastate and interstate, it is the only method that can link to ALPR, (Automatic License Plate Recognition) and similar technologies and, both fully support law enforcement in their role of protecting the Public but also fully protect privacy.
This solution is the only answer ever developed that solves these problems and it is proprietary. All other systems have only unreliable data or, are limited to a single insurer.
This unique, instant verification system benefits every person and every organization associated with motor vehicle insurance, including Policyholders, Drivers, State and Local Law Enforcement, Vehicle Registration, Insurance Commissioners, their staffs and the Courts.

saw this on the news yesterday. the sheriff said it didn't cost the taxpayers anything but didn't explain how. he also said the fines would fund the program. so they installed the cameras to generate money for the cameras.

I would love for them to do actually catch people who didn't have insurance. But this is the first step toward massive State big brother action.

I'm all for the cameras alerting the officers a vehicle is missing insurance so they can stop it and issue a criminal summons.
But issuing civil invoices is useless and will not deter uninsured motorists
And if an uninsured motorist is involved in a wreck their vehicle should be impounded immediately.

Yeah, go check to see how broke Iberville Parish is.
Dow, Shintech, Axiall, the plants in St. Gabriel alone could support Iberville parish financially.

Last night, the sheriff was already talking about how they can expand the use of this device to "setup outside schools to help catch child predators".
