Houston to New Orleans this past weekend. Went through Livingston, Jasper, Leesville, and Forest Hill to I-49, then hopped on 190 at Opelousas. Did reverse route coming back. I would recommend this route

Sat night it was 69/59 North to Livingston, 190E through Jasper to Merryville with a short squirt down LA110 to Rankin and on down 190 to Livonia to New Roads.

Do not recommend this route.
That sucked.

I made the drive to Houston yesterday evening. Went south from Sulphur down to Holly Beach, crossed over at Sabine Pass, then from Port Arthur to Winnie where I hopped back on I-10. Traffic wasn't bad at all. Just another option for those who don't need to end up on the north side of H-town.

Drove it in the early hours Westbound, both sides open. Road was most dead I've ever seen- easy ride... No problems, cones bring it down to 1 lane all thru the first ~7miles of TX. Water on slow lane for maybe 100 feet but water level was going down.

OT Q -Why is that construction area just into TX seemingly lasting 30yrs, it is because they are using former LA road crews?

You didn't take 28 from leesville to Alexandria?
no, I just took the route that Google Maps told me to take...from Leesville, pretty sure it was 28 to 121 to 112 to 165 South to 112 again.

I called the TX Department of Transportation yesterday and was talking to a very helpful human within 2 minutes.

Just making sure I am understanding this, I'm driving to Houston tomorrow morning from BR. So I CAN take I10 west all the way to Houston...aka roads are NOT closed?

Is that what google maps is for? I googled maps and just an atlas showed up...I'm confused.....about your intelligence. Seriously, go play in traffic.

Drove I-10 all the way to Beaumont from the state line. All lanes open. Easy drive except for rubber neckers looking at the flooded out RV park in Rose City.

Just drove from Lafayette to Houston. Exited at Washington street. Took about 30 minutes more due to traffic, but it was open all the way to where I am.

Do you have "traffic" turned on? The map should show closed roads and congestion.

I was being sarcastic...

Currently passing the Vinton exit westbound on I-10. So far so good.

Correct as of monday I10 reopened. Monday night had cones to one lane for a bit. Made BR to past Katy on I10 in <5hours leaving BR at 10PM. Driving back to BR today and all cones should be gone but bad drivers will likely be out in force.

Left from the bquick on Perkins road at 6 AM in Baton Rouge and currently I am passing minute maid park in Houston at 10 o'clock. No issues at all. Traffic heavy in Houston though.
