Problem with all of that stuff is they have the professional grading system(s) that people seem to live by lately...and it is REALLY expensive to have it done!

Not sure how that affects you or not though.

I don't think trading cards are worth much anymore. There are some on EBAY, but unless they are really rare, they aren't going for shite.

ebay auction last a week, sometimes its slow esp if product isn't in demand. so be prepared to sell some for less than u think.

amazon you set the price and it stays there. if it's not high in demand you may sit on it. if it's not rare, you'll usually have other sellers competing for the lowest price.

both have their advantages & disadvantages. but you are protected with them so i wouldn't venture into craigslist or anything.

You need to pick up a beckett if you want any realistic pricing system...then sell for about 50-70% of the beckett price if you want to sell it at all.

If they are from the late 80's through the 90s prepare to be disappointed in what you get. Everyone saw how much shite like The Amazing Fantasy with Spiderman's 1st appearance and Mickey Mantel cards were worth and decided to become collectors. The market is full of Griffy Upper Deck Rookies.

I've definitely noticed this, the few times I've searched for various things that I might have, on ebay

If you need serious money, it's not going to be worth the hassle. ebay has ruined the collectors market. Things have to be super rare for them to retain any value.

Exactly, hopefully by then time will have taken care of the flooded market and they might be worth something. Problem is, a lot of folks are thinking this way.

Now, if you have any old Transformers or toys from the 80s that everyone's mom sold for $.05 at a garage sale, you might be sitting on something.

I collect both. What do you have and what condition are they in? I strictly buy NM to Mint. Go to Louisiana Double Play on Sherwood. Prolly won't get squat for the cards but if the comics you have are in demand he'll give you about 50% of the retail value.

1) Slim chance of you selling it all as a collection. If you do, you'll get pennies per comic/card.

2) You can sell individually on eBay, but be prepared to put in a ton of work.

eBay didn't "ruin" the collector's market, it corrected it. Prior to eBay prices were set by the guides. Now the value of comics are set by what people are truly willing to buy/sell them for.

If any group or thing ruined the collector's market, it was the prospectors in the 80's and 90's that were willing to buy cards and comics (any cards and comics) in bulk as investments. The card and comic companies were more than happy to flood the market with product, insuring that those huge print runs would be worthless in today's market.

And now, any decent comic from the past is being reprinted in trade paperback form. So readers no longer have to rely on searching out back issues.

If your comics are from the 40's, 50's, or 60's, you can sell pretty easily on eBay. 70's and early 80's you'll get a buck or two. 90's and up... if it's not a special book... probably not much money in it.

If it's sports trading cards from the 80s and 90s, I'll buy them.

For $10 per 5000 count box, which is about what they're worth.

re: I want to sell my comic books and trading cards....
I'm sitting on a bunch of comics, a few baseball/basketball cards that are worth some...

But the most valuable items I have are Magic cards. An no, this wasn't the mid-late 90's lame Magic phenom...early to mid 90's was when the game started, so I have the earliest sets (Alpha, Beta, Unlimited and Ice Age)...including Alpha Black Lotus

I'll sell them off in a few decades for a pretty penny.
