Why do insurance companies / Health Care provides F the hard working American.

Had a baby 2014, with my insurance I had to pay over 3K. (I know that's crappy insurance) I found out that cash patience can get away with paying under $1,000

I had a CT Scan that would have cost me 2K -> Cash price $400.00

Colonoscopy my cost $975.00 -> cash patient $550

I asked if I could be a cash patient and they said that if my insurance is on file they are required to use it and there is no way to do it cash.

Anyone else have any thoughts or similar experiences. Might as well bitch to the OT because the doctor offices don't care.

Just drop your insurance.

You're welcome.

Insurance is the biggest scam in the world. It is in case some shite happens. If nothing ever happens you never get your money back. Meanwhile they nearly 70% of the commercials on TV are those of an insurance company.

I was a cash patient until Obamacare. Urgent Care clinics and cash pay doctors.

Now I get to see my new doctor once a year, BUT if I need anything else at all, I have a $3600 deductible. But my limits are really high, so it's really just catastrophic insurance. Still it costs me $280 a month.

Tell them from here on out you have no insurance, you cancelled it. Then, if you get with the big 25k bill, whip out your insurance card.

I have, what I thought was, really good insurance. I just had a colonoscopy done and still had to fork out $1500

Tell me about it. I pay out the arse and my deductible is $3K. Got quoted an MRI for $600, but out the door cash price for $280. WTF.

Hard working individuals like you and I are sheep. We drive the country and benefit the least from it. The rich convince us they are far smarter and do more important jobs netting them 2-3 times our salaries. The poor convince us that they are far more stupid and need our help. Long story short, life sucks. But LSU football looks to be really good this year.

how is this possible?

I thought the way it worked was hospitals bill an outrageous amount...insurance companies say frick you we are only paying this amount...and people without insurance get screwed by not having it and owing more

ok...one at a time.

So the $3000 you paid was your yearly deductible?

Again, deductible?

Sorry, not buying that. Anesthesia + doc bill + facility + pathology =/= $550. Maybe your facility fee alone as a cash pay patient would be $550, but not your total cost for all entities.

I can tell you're young. HC has been on the upswing since before the 2004 Medicare Part D legislation re: Rx costs. It was a overall Rx and HC platform then and has been every day since.

Are those higher prices the bullshite amounts your provider would bill your insurance, or are they what you would pay out of pocket toward your deductible after your insurance knocks the bullshite amounts down to their negotiated rates, some or all of which they may pay, leaving you to pick up the difference?
